Is it hard to quit smoking?
Hi Folks
A question popped into my head one day that got me pondering. Is it really so hard to stop smoking? I know most peoples’ impulse answer to that question would be “Of course its hard, are you an idiot!” (just to set the record straight, no I’m not an idiot.)
But let’s look at it a bit longer before we close our minds to other possible answers. Like many questions this one isn’t as straightforward as it appears and actually brings up more questions that need to be considered before a reasonable reply can be made. Once we get past the knee jerk reaction, we see other things related to this one question.
Some of the related questions that popped into my head are:
- Why do does a person smoke?
- How did the smoking start?
- Does a person smoke more at certain times and less at other times? (and no I’m not including the time you are asleep! See, I told you I wasn’t an idiot!)
- Is smoking acting as a replacement for something else?
As you can see, the questions come faster than the answers when we delve deeper. I’m going to explore each of these questions in the next series of posts, and I would welcome your comments, so I hope you will join me on this exploration to find an answer to the original question: Is it really so hard to stop smoking?
